Q: Who volunteers with SRIV?
A: SRIV accepts volunteers of all ages regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin or disability. A background check is required of all volunteers over the age of 18 before placement.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Go to our Home Page, choose Volunteer tab, print the registration forms, complete the forms and mail to the address on the form or email them to Kathy Rosum, our volunteer coordinator at krosum@southernrivol.org. If you prefer, call our office (401) 789-2362 and we will mail them or drop in at our office to pick them up. (The Center 25 St. Dominic Rd Wakefield, RI 02879)

- 18 years of age and over will be placed according to skills and volunteer experience desired.
- Ages 14 to 17 are offered limited opportunities for community service projects
- Children under 14 must be accompanied by their guardian for intergenerational family service opportunities.

- When the volunteer coordinator receives your forms, you will be called to set up an appointment for your orientation.
- At your orientation, all current opportunities will be discussed
- You will be matched with assignment(s) meeting your criteria
- Volunteer coordinator will set up appointments for that assignment and you are ready to start
Q: Where can I volunteer?

Direct Services include:
- Independent Aging Program (Meals on Wheels, Medical Transport, Food Delivery, Grocery Shopping, Visitation and/or Respite, Minor Home Repair, Library Materials Delivery, Telecare)
- Disaster Preparedness (Shelter Team Assignments, Points of Distribution-disaster recovery, Meds Clinic Volunteers, Certified Emergency Response Teams)
Indirect Services include:
- Volunteering at one or more of our 122 Community Partners or Special Events, and addressing community needs at: Food pantries, Social service agencies, mentoring our children, education support, environmental concerns, animal care, historical cultural, art museums, and much more!
